In organic synthesis, 1,1,3,3-tetramethylguanidine is used as a strong, non-nucleophilic base. 1,1,3,3-tetramethylguanidine is an efficient and selective catalyst for alcohol benzoylation.<\/h5>\n
Physical and chemical properties tetramethylguanidine is a colorless oily liquid, boiling point 160-162\u2103, density 0.918, refractive index 1.4692, is a strong organic base, soluble in toluene, cyclohexanone, ethanol, etc., also Chemicalbook soluble in water, easily hydrolyzed to tetramethyl urea in alkaline aqueous solution, corrosive, generally packed in galvanized iron drums.<\/h5>\n
